Programme Overview

The Master of Library and Information (MLIS) Program is offered in two semesters for 1250 marks. It comprises 10 papers including 1 practical paper, 1 Project/Dissertation/Internship & Viva Voce, and 1 skill course spread across two semesters. The PG programme covers concepts from foundational knowledge to new and emerging library trends such as Information Retrieval Systems, Library Management Systems, Digital Libraries, Library Automation, Information Services, Reference Services, User Education, and Information Literacy. This one-year MLIS degree prepares students for professional careers in library and information science. The programme emphasizes hands-on training and practical exposure to modern library tools and technologies. It also focuses on developing research, managerial, and communication skills required in diverse information environments. Graduates are equipped to work effectively in academic, public, special, and digital libraries as well as information centers.
